It encourages collaboration among researchers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to promote the cross-field integration and innovative application of knowledge systems.
Open Access and Author Fees
As an open-access journal, IJMR enables free and unrestricted access to all published articles for readers worldwide, with no subscription fees, download fees, or institutional access restrictions. This maximizes the elimination of geographical and resource barriers to knowledge dissemination, allowing interdisciplinary research findings to quickly reach researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in various fields. To support the sustainable operation of the open-access publishing model (including organizing peer review, maintaining an interdisciplinary editorial team, building academic platforms, and long-term data archiving), IJMR charges reasonable publication fees to authors after their manuscripts are accepted following peer review. Readers, universities, research institutions, and enterprises are not required to pay additional fees for access or acquisition of content. Specific fee standards can be found on the official website.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain full copyright of their research published in IJMR. All articles are officially published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY License). This license allows others to freely read, download, copy, distribute, cite, or create derivative works (including for commercial purposes) as long as the author’s name, article title, and journal source are properly acknowledged. It not only protects the authors’ intellectual property rights but also fully releases the reusability value of interdisciplinary research findings to promote cross-field knowledge integration.
Peer Review Process
In response to the unique characteristics of interdisciplinary research, IJMR adopts a double-blind interdisciplinary peer review process to ensure the academic rigor, methodological suitability, and cross-field innovation of published works, while upholding the journal’s high-quality academic reputation. The specific process is as follows:
- Preliminary Evaluation: After submission, manuscripts undergo a formal review and thematic relevance assessment by the Editor-in-Chief and an interdisciplinary editorial board (comprising experts from various fields). Manuscripts that align with the journal’s positioning, meet formatting standards, and demonstrate interdisciplinary research value are selected for further review.
- Anonymous Review Assignment: Manuscripts passing the preliminary evaluation are assigned to 2–3 anonymous experts (reviewers) with interdisciplinary research experience, based on the core disciplinary fields involved in the research. This ensures reviewers can evaluate the scientific validity and integration value of the research from multiple perspectives.
- In-depth Review Feedback: Reviewers provide detailed comments on the rationality of research design, suitability of interdisciplinary methods, validity of data/arguments, innovation of conclusions, and practical significance, and explicitly recommend "Accept," "Major Revision," "Minor Revision," or "Reject."
- Author Revision and Secondary Review: The journal conveys the anonymous review comments to authors in full and guides them to make targeted revisions. After revisions are completed, reviewers conduct a secondary review to confirm whether the issues have been resolved.
- Final Decision and Publication: The editorial board makes a final decision based on the secondary review comments. Accepted manuscripts enter the typesetting and proofreading stage and are quickly scheduled for publication in accordance with the monthly publishing plan, shortening the cycle from acceptance to public release of research findings.
Publication Frequency
IJMR adopts a monthly publishing model, releasing one volume (including interdisciplinary research papers, cross-field reviews, case studies, etc.) each month, with a total of 12 volumes published annually. All published articles are assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and registered through CrossRef, the international DOI registration agency. As a permanent "digital ID" for articles, the DOI ensures readers worldwide can quickly locate and access articles via the official website, while guaranteeing the accuracy of interdisciplinary citations and the traceability of academic achievements. The monthly publishing model further enhances the timeliness of research dissemination, enabling cutting-edge interdisciplinary discoveries to be applied in practice more quickly.
Publication Ethics and Misconduct Statement
IJMR strictly adheres to international academic publishing ethics guidelines and upholds academic integrity in the field of interdisciplinary research. Key principles include:
- Editorial Independence: Decisions on manuscript acceptance or rejection are based solely on academic value (e.g., interdisciplinary innovation, methodological rigor, and contribution significance), without interference from the author’s identity, institution, region, or commercial interests.
- Review Confidentiality: The anonymity of reviewers and authors is protected throughout the process to prevent information leakage from affecting the objectivity of interdisciplinary reviews.
- Zero Tolerance for Misconduct: Any form of academic misconduct is firmly rejected, including but not limited to plagiarism (of text, data, or methods), data fabrication, duplicate submission, improper authorship (honorary authorship or missing authors), and falsification of research conclusions in interdisciplinary research.
- Misconduct Handling: In accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)guidelines, suspected academic misconduct cases are investigated fairly and transparently (e.g., requesting original data from authors, consulting interdisciplinary experts, or retracting problematic articles). Investigation progress and results are publicly announced on the official website to maintain the integrity and credibility of the journal’s publishing practices.
Data Sharing and Archiving
To enhance the transparency, reproducibility, and cross-field reusability of interdisciplinary research, IJMR encourages authors to simultaneously indicate the access methods for research data (e.g., links to public databases, contact information for authors to request data, or identifiers for data storage platforms) on the official website when publishing articles. Readers seeking access to original data, analysis codes, or experimental records related to published articles can contact the corresponding authors directly through the official website, and authors are expected to cooperate within a reasonable scope. Meanwhile, all published journal content is double-archived through the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) system. A historical literature search database is also established on the official website to ensure long-term stable access to research findings and prevent the loss of academic resources due to technological updates or platform changes.
Advertising and Marketing Policy
IJMR does not accept any form of commercial advertising or marketing content (including but not limited to corporate promotions, product advertisements, and paid articles). The official website only displays content relevant to the journal’s positioning, such as submission guidelines, published articles, editorial board information, and academic updates. This ensures the independence of editorial decisions, eliminates interference from commercial interests in the objectivity of interdisciplinary academic research, and further strengthens the commitment to academic integrity.
Direct Promotion Statement
IJMR’s direct promotion activities (such as call for papers, themed invitations, and academic conference collaboration promotions) are solely for the purpose of advancing interdisciplinary research development. These activities target researchers, university research teams, academic institutions, and professional societies in relevant disciplinary fields worldwide. All promotional information is simultaneously published in the "Academic Updates" section of the official website, ensuring accuracy and authenticity. It strictly aligns with the journal’s mission of "promoting cross-field knowledge integration" and contains no false advertising or irrelevant commercial information.
